The Value Added Tax, VAT (known as IVA in Spain), is imposed on almost all products in the European Union. Only visitors resident in other countries are exempt from this tax once the purchases exceed 15,000 pesetas.

VAT commonly varies between 7% and 16%, depending on whether or not a product is considered cultural.
